Tips

Recycling at Home
   • Remember the three Rs of responsible waste management: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
   • Over 2 billion beverage containers have been recycled in Nova Scotia in the past 10 years
   • Milk Cartons and other containers should be rinsed and placed in your recyclables bag.
   • It takes approximately 12 2-litre PET bottles to make enough fiberfill for one adult ski jacket
   • Ensure all recyclables are clean and dry
   • Making new cardboard from recycled cardboard takes 25% less energy than using fibre from
      new wood
   • Leftover paint can be taken free of charge to your local ENVIRODEPOT™ for recycling
   • Nova Scotians dispose of almost 50% less garbage than the average Canadian
   • Residents in Region 6 have recycled over 700,000 tires in the past 10 years.
   • Up to 4 clean used car and tuck tires, up to 24.5inches, can be returned to any tire
      retailer for recycling.
   • Nearly 55% of every aluminum can is made from recycled aluminum
