Business Rewards Program
Do you think that your business is a leader in solid waste management? Have you implemented some unique initiatives to divert items from the landfill? If so, you may be eligible for our Business Rewards program.

The purpose of the program is to reward businesses for their efforts in solid waste management. The evaluation criteria include prevention, education, and management. If you are interested in being evaluated, contact your local municipal educator to make an appointment for a waste audit.

Evaluation: A series of questions are used to evaluate the level of progress in the areas of Prevention, Education and Management respecting solid waste. The answers to the questions will indicate what your business is doing to Prevent excess waste production, Educate the public/staff on your system and the Management necessary to sustain the system. This form of evaluation also takes a snapshot-in-time of your waste management practices in the before (prevention), during (education) and after (management) phases of a waste management program within your business.

Scoring a 16 out of a possible 20 points gives a businessa certificate and door decal that can be displayed to inform customers about your achievements. Higher than 16 gives your business the opportunity to be nominated for the Provincial Mobius Environmental Awards held annually by the RRFB Nova Scotia.
